Saveur is a product of 2 friends who have decided to pursue their aspirations in providing quality French Cuisine at affordable prices to the en masse.

We were keen to visit this place as my good friend recommended this place for affordable French cuisine.

Le' Ambience

Saveur (Bugis) @ Purvis Street
Le' Main Entrance

Unlike most French Restaurants which seemed to be very posh (and intimidating sometimes), Saveur has an endearing outlook of a casual café with its minimalistic décor.

Warm Yellow Lightings~

Saveur (Bugis) is conveniently located in the central of Singapore among the nostalgic stretch of shophouses and hence is a great hangout place with friends or colleagues after work.

Le' Menu

Saveur (Bugis) @ Purvis Street

The Menu is very minimalist as well with a Duck as their logo.

The first page of the Menu quotes one of my favourite bible verse:

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres." ~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

I think the owners of this restaurant must be loving and devout Christians too :)

I would actually suggest them to incorporate some illustrations of their food into their menu as it is quite hard to imagine what kind of food they would be serving... Hmmm.. Seems like this problem is happening in most cafés I go to... So hard to put a 'face' to the name.

What We Ordered

Saveur (Bugis) @ Purvis Street

We ordered the chef's recommended dishes (marked with a penguin logo at the side on the menu) - Saveur's Pasta, Duck Confit and Cookies and Milk.

Le' Food

Saveur's Pasta (SGD4.90++)

Capellini with Chilli Oil, Finely-chopped Konbu, topped with Minced Pork Sauce, Chives and Sakura Ebi

As this pasta is supposed to be an appetiser, it was priced very cheaply at only S$4.90++. This pasta tasted really great and fragrant with the condiments and the Sakura Ebi was absolutely fantastic.

This is a definite must try dish for petite eaters like Da Rabbit!

The Duck Confit tasted rather average but still acceptable :)

Cookies and Milk (SGD9.90++)

Cookie Dough Ice-Cream, Milk Soil, Cherries Kirsch, Peanut Butter and Honey Cloud

Cookies and Milk (SGD9.90++)

We were all very amused to see this dessert being served.

It was our first time to see our dessert served on a white plate and with bubbly white foam! Looks kind of quaint at the first glance.

The first scoop was still the foam and we were like literally eating milk foam... Diao~

But as we dug deeper, we discovered the Cookie Dough Ice-Cream which tasted icy cold.. Then, we realised that popping candy was added into the dessert as everything turned fizzy.. It was a queer but interesting experience trying this dessert out for the first time.

However, the portion of this dessert was too small and Sweetie Muffin found it slightly overpriced at SGD9.90++ -- we could have bought a huge cup of ice-cream from Cold Stone for that sort of pricing you know?

But I find it rather worthwhile for that novel experience still. LOL.

Overall

This place is really affordable for French fare but not so affordable for desserts which was a meh factor to me who has a sweet tooth.  Moreover, the ambience is not say considered romantic for a date but is rather decent for some casual catch-up. The seats are placed pretty close due to space constraints and hence it can be rather rowdy when the place is packed with humans.

Also, I did not quite like the lightings in the restaurant as my photos did not turn out to be flattering as a result :(

Sweetie Muffin did not get his hunger satisfied and hence we ended up at a coffeeshop nearby eating his favourite toasted kaya + butter bun...

Walking along the nostalgic Shophouses to the Coffeeshop :)

can't believe my eyes! The coffeeshop was much more spacious and the lightings are better than Saveur's!

And this coffeeshop specialises in their Authentic Hainanese fare. Sweetie Muffin said their Chicken Rice was not too bad either.

Toasted Pillow Bun with Brown Kaya and Butter (Less than SGD2.00)

This is Sweetie Muffin's favourite traditional toasted bun.

This is called the Pillow Bun as it is shaped like a pillow and it tasted slightly crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside  ~

Toasted Pillow Bun with Brown Kaya and Butter

Sweetie Muffin loves the fluffy texture of the Pillow Bun and the block of butter that will melt in your mouth once it is consumed...

Well, this bun tasted rather normal to me as I preferred a less fluffy bun for toasted bread. I would prefer thinner bread that is toasted to brown and is ultra crispy in texture like the ones served by Ya Kun.. So this is really up to individual preference... However, I must agree that I love how it feels to have the butter melting in your mouth.. LOL

Hainanese Chicken Rice Set for 2 Pax

*Update: We tried the Chicken Rice Set 1 week later

We were shocked that this Hainanese Chicken Rice Set for 2 pax amounts to approximately SGD12.

Although their Chicken Rice tasted slightly above average, I would still say that I prefer Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice at this pricing.

The Hainanese Chicken Rice here pales in comparison with Tian Tian because Tian Tian's rice and chilli sauce tasted better. I think even the chicken tasted better too! (no offence, but I really loved Tian Tian's)

Chilli Sauce Served - lacks the spiciness...
I would strongly recommend you to try Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice if you have not done so :)
