Le' Ambience
The décor is indeed very homely - in a vintage country style setting. Indeed, Ma Maison lives up to its name :)
Le' Main Entrance |
Glass Cabinet displaying vintage photos and models of food served |
Vintage Photos framed in wooden frames~ Looks like those photos you'll see in haunted house movies... |
Le' Cozy Corner :) |
Dimly Lit Dining Area during lunch |
The place is poorly lit and hence my photos looked very unflattering as a result. Also, the natural sunlight from the windows are making my photos dimmer due to backlight problems :(
I have adjusted the brightness in my photos but they are still very dark thanks to the natural lighting from the windows :( |
You will see vintage toys being displayed along the window panes... |
I like their lamp~ Tainted Glass~~ |
Isn't that the logo for London Subway Station? - Earl's Court. LOL. |
I simply love their floral prints on the dark green tablecloth |
Looks and Feels Rustic somehow :) |

Le' Menu
Cover Page of Main Menu |
To be honest, the staff flooded our table with pieces of Menu. They have a clear A4 Size Plastic File for their main menu and in between there are huge pieces of laminated page inserts elaborating on their seasonal promotions, offers etc. Feels rather bulky actually...

Special Lunch Menu |
Chef's Recommendation displayed on the Kawaii-looking Blackboard :) |
What We Ordered
We ordered the Steak Lunch under their Special Lunch Set together with a Mixed Berries Homemade Fruit Tart + Drink Set. The tarts available are very limited and some were already reserved by other tables, hence we had to settle with the Mixed Berries flavor instead of the Montblanc one which we initially wanted :(
Le' Food
Steak Lunch (SGD19.50++)
Soup, Mini Salad, Bread or Rice, Drink and Ice-Cream
We had the Steak Lunch served with Rice and Iced Tea.
Tomato Soup |
The tomato soup tasted like those you get from Campbell's canned soups... It tasted fine just that Sweetie Muffin was complaining that he has tasted better ones in Switzerland.. Meh~
Mini Salad |
We were surprised to see raw mushrooms served in this salad. The dressing has a hint of wasabi and it tasted average. The portion is mini as its name suggests :)

Iced Tea Served with Sugar Syrup |
Pouring the Sugar Syrup into the Iced Tea. Yummy :) |
Le' Steak |
Le' Mini Greens served with the Steak... |
The steak looked rather decent but the gravy was tad too salty to our liking. Also, the meat is rather hard to chew due to the tendons present (see the gross picture below).
Le' Beef Tendons which we pui pui (spitted) out :( |
Ice-Cream! - 1 Single Scoop Vanilla Ice-Cream |
The Ice-Cream tasted super nostalgic. It had the same taste we used to eat when we were young - served in paper cups and eaten with wooden sticks. It has a very strong vanilla taste.
We loved the ice-cream! |
Indeed, brought back many fond memories although it doesn't taste fantastic... LOL
Café Maison Home-Made Tart + Drink Set (SGD10.80++)
We had Mixed Berries Fruit Tart with Mango Juice.
Mango Juice |
Mango Juice tasted great and authentic :)
Mixed Berries Fruit Tart |
Using a FORK as a stencil to scatter the cocoa powder - how innovative and effortless! |
The Mixed Berries Fruit Tart tasted very sour. It was a major letdown after I have already tasted one of the best fruit tarts from Fruit Paradise earlier. Do not order this if you cannot bear the sourness from the mixed berries!

Le' Service
We were presented with a set of Ma Maison's Room Keys to "check-out" at the Cashier and we simply love this concept!! However we never got a chance to take the keys to the cashier as a smart alec waitress did it for us in a bid to usher us out of the place since we were done eating :(((
Room Keys for Checking Out |
The Service falls below our expectations for a Japanese restaurant. Mainly due to them hiring part-time students to be waiters. We were really 'impressed' that the boy actually asked us if we would like our drinks to be served together with the main courses... It is a very common sense thingy which we do not expect him to ask.. Normally we just consume our drinks together with our food and desserts served afterwards.. A problem with that? Also, the service is nowhere attentive, but somewhat acceptable...
Overall
Ma Maison is a lovely place for its decor and it is a great place for affordable dates and family gatherings. Baby Chairs are provided for families with kids as well. But if you want better food and services, perhaps you might want to spend a little bit more on venturing out to other places instead...
