Located right above Coffee Stars by Dao in Wisma Atria is this attractive looking café - Paris Baguette. This place has always been really crowded ever since it has first opened in Wisma Atria.
I had a catch-up with Alvin and Edwin again - I have met them in Early December for dinner @ Hoshino Coffee, Plaza Singapura (Please refer to: http://musings-of-a-rabbit.blogspot.sg/2013/12/hoshino-coffee-plaza-singapura.html).
This time round, we picked Paris Baguette as we wanted to try the pastries and drinks there.
**Update: I would like to introduce to you guys a better alternative to Paris Baguette (in terms of ambience, taste and service) - Artisan Boulangerie Co. (Click on image below to read review):

Le' Ambience
The place is very bright with vibrant display of cakes and french pastries which makes it very attention-seeking. Finding a seat can be a challenge because some people refuse to leave although they are done eating and drinking - they just hang around chatting and lazing around ignoring the others who were 'punished' to stand and look at them piteously hoping to get a seat. Also, the staff are very slow in clearing out the tables.
In terms of cleanliness, I think the staff at Food Courts clear the tables more promptly than Paris Baguette. But still, this place looks good on the exterior somehow.
Le' Service
If you have failed to recognise my rating on the service above, I shall reiterate - I'm giving this place a ZERO rating for its service (perhaps negative). The service standards are soooo Paris - and surprising enough, the café actually originated in Korea unlike what their name suggests. But yup, the service is Paris hence it is so right to name the place after Paris!
There are 3 of us... and they serve us different forks... |
Le' Normal Fork... |
We requested for a knife to cut our pastry.. But we got a HUGE Knife for cutting cakes instead :( |
First, the staff is just so snobbish. You do not need to feel proud although you are a foreign talent, you know? As we ordered some pastries and they served them all in ONE small plate, it is reasonable for us to request for 3 empty plates so that we can divide the pastries among ourselves. Edwin volunteered to request for the extra plates and the snobbish staff simply slammed the plates rudely on the countertop under his nose. He was indeed really shocked and pissed off by the service. After all, we DO NOT owe Paris Baguette a living.
Le' Menu
What We Ordered
As Alvin and I arrived earlier, we ordered some drinks whilst we wait for Edwin's grand arrival. Alvin had Café Latte whilst I had Café Mocha. Upon Edwin's arrival, we proceeded to the counter to order our food. Initially, we thought that the Brunch Sets reflected on the menu is available all day (see the bottom right corner of the Brunch Menu) but were disappointed that they do not serve the Brunch sets for dinner :(
Hence we compromised and ordered some pastries to try. We ordered an Apple Pastry, a Sweet Cinnamon Bun, Everybody Pizza, Camembert Cheese Quiche, Italian Vegetable Calzone and Royal Puddings in Original, Caramel and Mango flavours. Edwin ordered Café Latte for drinks as well.
Le' Food
Café Mocha (SGD6.50)
A harmony of espresso, soft milk and chocolate.
The Café Mocha tasted sweet and aromatic and I quite liked it.
Café Latte (SGD6.00)
Coffee drink with a shot of espresso and mild steamed milk
This was how Alvin's Café Latte looked like - no difference from my Café Mocha as they both have the same latte art - how uncreative. We concluded that the staff who prepared this only know how to draw hearts or couldn't be bothered to try other designs.
Assorted Pastries
Apple Pastry (SGD3.50)
Sweet Cinnamon Bun (SGD3.10)
Everybody Pizza (SGD3.60)
Camembert Cheese Quiche (SGD5.50)
Italian Vegetable Calzone (SGD3.60)
Out of the many pastries tasted, we liked the Sweet Cinnamon Bun and Italian Vegetable Calzone the most. Although the Italian Vegetable Calzone do not look as appetising, it tasted really savoury and good to our amazement.
Royal Pudding
Original (SGD4.00), Caramel (SGD4.50) and Mango (SGD4.50)
There were only THREE flavours of the Royal Pudding left and hence there was not much of a choice that evening. Hence we settled with the Original, Caramel and Mango flavoured ones. The Mango tasted the sweetest, in fact it tasted very sweet when we ate the top part. But after we eat it together with the syrup at the bottom, it tasted OK amazingly. We enjoyed our pudding very much :)
Overall (Bottom-Line)
The food tasted great and up to our expectations but the service was too sucky. In addition, the staff screwed up with Edwin's Café Latte order - she gave us a number tag but failed to key in the order into the receipt and hence the Café Latte was not served as a result and we realised it too late as well. We would recommend you to visit this place for takeaways and try not to dine at the café if you do not wish to get snubbed by the staff there.
I would really recommend you guys to visit Coffee Stars by Dao (http://musings-of-a-rabbit.blogspot.sg/2013/11/coffee-stars-by-dao-wisma-atria.html) located just below Paris Baguette - their service is good and their durian cakes are one of the best in Singapore!
Liked the Sign-off at the bottom.. I ♥ Paris Baguette. Was glad that they did not charge us for the 10% Service Charge too :) |
I ♥ Paris Baguette? I ♥ the food but HATED their service! |
