We chanced upon this hidden find whilst walking along Joo Chiat Road from 112 Katong Mall (Do read about my food reviews in the mall @ http://musings-of-a-rabbit.blogspot.sg/2013/11/gems-in-112-katong-part-i-fu-lin-fried.html). My brother - Kriston is a burger lover and hence the caption of FATBOY's caught his attention somehow...

Thinking of where to go late at night? Thinking of chilling out with your good friends but do not like the noise and crowd @ Boat Quay area? Craving for something sweet and sinful? FATBOY's @ Katong is the answer!

Le' Ambience
Taking Panorama Shots with iPhone 5S can be a little challenging... |
Da Rabbit's "Panorama Activity"... |
FATBOY'S is situated under an old shophouse building and the décor is somewhat punkish with its walls decorated with street art / graffiti. The place was rather dim - like a dungeon but we felt rather comfy in there somehow..
Oh yes, for burger lovers, you can always customise your own burger by following the instructions painted on the wall ;)
Le' Menu
Oh they host special events like Birthdays, Reunions, Baby Showers and Corporate Parties... |
~The Stiffee Foot-long Hot Dog~ |
The Menu is a double-sided piece of cardboard paper with the Angry / Grumpy Fatboy logo on top. Looks really amusing.. Why is Fatboy looking angry? Because we call him FAT? Oops...
What We Ordered
As I am not a burger fan, I decided to try their Thick Malt Shakes to see if it is any different from my favourite Vanilla Milkshake from MOS Burger. I ordered the Vanilla Malt Shake.
As for the burgers, we decided to order their Speciality Burgers - Royale with Cheese and Beef Wimpy.
Le' Food
Vanilla Thick Malt Shake (SGD7.80+)
The Vanilla Thick Malt Shake is really very thick indeed! It tasted really sweet with the malt in it and I felt very guilty of the calories intake instantaneously :( Awww~ But it was just too hard to resist!
Royale With Cheese (SGD12.00+)
The Classic Cheeseburger with hand crafted beef patty, aged cheddar cheese and smothered with BBQ Sauce and Onion Marmalade on a sesame seed bun
This is great for cheese lovers!
Wimpy (Choice of Beef / Pork / Lamb) (SGD14.50+)
Single Version of the Fat Basterd but the bestest selling burger just yet!
It tasted not bad but I still prefer my Double Cheeseburger from MacDonald's as I like their pickles better somehow ~ I am a Mac fan!!
Oh yes, I do like the burger with my favorite SunnySide Up :) Perhaps they can serve more vegetables in the salad to make it less sinful too...
Overall
The food fare is rather affordable and the bar is a great place to chill out even for families with kids as they offer the kiddy Thick Malt Shake alternatives to alcohol. Also, it will be more peaceful to drink there than at the Boat Quay area :)
Fries Eating Tip from Kriston: "Add some pepper to season. Sprinkle them onto Chilli Sauce so that they can 'glue' to the fries better. " |
