I have ALWAYS wanted to visit this place after I had a casual catch-up with my girlfriends at P.S. Cafe located in Palais Renaissance last year. I have visited Antionette at Mandarin Gallery some time ago and was pleased with the food and ambience (but hate the long wait outside), hence I had the urge to visit the Palais Renaissance branch too as it was fashioned like a Secret Garden.
As my office is opened only for half a day on Christmas Eve, I had the opportunity to make my way down to Palais Renaissance to fulfil my dream and to spend some 'ME' time in my dream garden of fantasies.
Introduction
Antionette was named after the last Queen of France: Marie-Antionette who was often revered for her extravagance and fine taste. Hence this explains for the exquisite Parisian pastries and food served by the place as well as the elegant french furnishings which makes you feel royal whenever you are seated in their restaurant. You just can't help but feel special in a place like this :)
Ambience
I loved the decor and furnishing a lot as it looks really grand and pompous - reminds me of the back garden of Charlottenburg's Palace in Berlin :)
Reminiscing my Berlin Trip~

Looks like a Queen's Courtyard :) |

Counter for Sweets and Parisian Pastries ~ Love the Chandelier lots! |

The place is so classy that the lady at the table beside me was seated with her legs and backside slanted to a side - and that lasted for more than an hour!! Wonder if her legs do get numb? |
The place exudes a lot of charm with the Victorian furnishings as well as the vibrant colours from the man-made plants and flowers~ It makes me really reluctant to leave this place after I was done with my eating actually...
Le' Menu
The Menu is pretty lengthy and offers a wide selection of main courses, pancakes, crepes, pastries, teas and desserts.
The downside of it is that it lacks illustration so it is pretty hard to imagine what will the dishes look like only after you have ordered it.
Cover Page of Menu with Antionette's Logo ~ The cover page was printed on a light turquoise background and I like the colour lots! Somewhat lighter than Tiffany Blue. |
What I ordered
After a long contemplation, I have decided to try their Nordic Crêpe (under the Crêpes Salées / Savoury Crêpe Section) for lunch. Also, I ordered a pot of Petit Rose (under the Infusions Aux Herbs - Herbal Teas Section) for drinks as well as Antionette (under the Les Coupes Glacées Avec Crème Chantilly Section) for desserts.

Le' Food
Nordic Crêpe (SGD18.50++)
This is a French Style thin savoury pancakes served with Salad. The Nordic one is served with Smoked Salmon, Red Onions, Capers and Dill Cream Cheese

BURPS! |
Petit Rose (SGD8.50++)
Only tender French rosebuds make their way onto this delectable menu. Ladies regard rosebuds as a symbol of luxury, everlasting youth and voluptuousness, evoking memories of love, past, present and future. The gents only see lust.
The Tea was served ONLY whilst I was halfway through my main course. |
Instead of serving my tea first, it was served when I was halfway into eating my main course.

Le' Service
The service was really slack. The staff do not patrol the area often and it took me 10 minutes to attract the waitress' attention and get my order taken.
Further to that, the waitress who served me does not seem know the menu well. After ordering my main course and dessert, I enquired if there are any tea recommendations to go with the food I have ordered. She simply brushed me off by asking me to refer to the Nouveaux Thés - New Teas Section of the menu and also said I can try Earl Grey d'antionette. I replied her that the dessert I ordered already contained Earl Grey in it and it doesn't really gel with the food I have ordered. She then said she'll walk off and leave me to decide what I want before coming back to me and she really went off! Instead of coming back to me, it took me another 10 minutes to attract another waitress' attention to order my Petit Rose Tea and no plain water whatsoever was served to quench my thirst prior to that.
Overall
I will still visit this place again for its ambience and good food despite the sucky service rendered - at least I was not chased away by the staff there for hogging the place for too long like my bad experience at Hoshino Coffee earlier. Meh~
However, I was really reluctant to pay 10% Service Charge judging from the crappy service I received earlier...

Burnt a hole in my wallet for a Receipt presented to me beautifully in return... |
My Verdict: "Feel like a Royalty, but NEVER treated like one"

I liked its decor too.. Perhaps should visit it someday :) |
