Food Review

Introduction to Asia Square n Food Garden

As Lau Pat Sat is closed for renovation for 'eternity', we have no choice but to dine at the Food Garden Food Court within our office building frequently. Thank God that Asia Square Tower 2 is opened with the Food Garden's new wing extended into Tower 2, offering us with more variety of food and other services like nail salon, florist and laundry. Its a pity why they do not house a supermarket here because we love to DIY our own salad during lunch time. Meh~

As Marina Bay is to be developed into the next prime business district with all the banks and companies in the finance sector to be housed in it, it is important to set up more foodie places to satisfy the growing population and the increasing demand for quality food.

Asia Square was officially opened on 8 November 2011 - it is a twin-tower mixed-use development which comprise of Office Space, 5 Star Hotel, Retail Space and 'The Cube'. Asia Square Tower 1 consists of 43 storeys whereas Tower 2 consists of 46 storeys integrated with The Westin Singapore Marina Bay. In short, it is an ultra ATAS (Means 'Classy' in Malay) building with a very good and generous Landlord (of course, the rental is not cheap lah!). My office is housed in such a building so my hopes of having a budget lunch have been dashed for good. Meh~

Our Food Garden here is classier than Food Republic and it is amazing that they manage to convince major brands to set up stalls in the loft-like food court. The stalls are amazingly generous too - we have enjoyed some promotions and offers for their grand openings such as getting free burritos or free pastries from Artisan Boulangerie Co.

Some big brands you may find in Food Garden:
  1. Astons Express
  2. Guzman y Gomez Mexican Taqueria
  3. Imperial Treasure
  4. Pepper Lunch Express
  5. Starbucks
  6. The Soup Spoon

Le' Stall

According to the website, Wheat Baumkuchen was established in 2010 in Singapore and its pastry became popular overnight. Cold Noodles was introduced in 2011 which gained its popularity among health-conscious customers. Hence we shall see if healthy food can be tasty in our review below...

Again, I left the office at 11:30am to beat the lunch crowd and hence is able to snap a few nice photos of the stall itself :) Prince William joined for lunch too but he ordered a bowl of soupy noodles from Imperial Treasure..

I made my order and was given this electronic device that will buzz when the food is ready for collection - I find it quite pointless because I was standing at the Collection Point holding the Buzzer.. Whahaha!

Le' Food

I ordered their Popular Penguin Noodles which comprise of Green Soba, Sesame Sauce, Shredded Chicken, Fried Eggs and Tuna Salad.

The noodles come together with a complimentary home-made Ice Lemon Tea / Water Chestnut.  I chose Water Chestnut drink as I love its sweet taste ♥~

Penguin Noodles (SGD7.80)

I received my order within 5 minutes as I was among the first few in the queue~ WHEEE~~

Penguin Noodles + Water Chestnut Drink

The noodles actually tasted as appetising as it looks. The cold soba noodles was springy in texture with bite-sized quail eggs and tuna salad to flavour the dish. In addition, the sesame added to the Penguin Noodles do provide an aromatic aftertaste but it kind of got stuck in between Da Rabbit's teeth as well.. LOL. But overall, I have to agree that healthy food tastes GREAT!!! If you were to serve this dish to the patients in the hospital, I am sure they would be delighted!

Also, the Water Chestnut Drink is home-made goodness in a cup! The sweetness is not over-bearing and yet it helps to quench my thirst ♥♥

YUMMILICIOUS!!!

UPDATE (16 Dec 2013): Dolphin Noodles (SGD7.80)

I tried their Dolphin Noodles this afternoon. The Dolphin Noodles consists of Ramen, Miso Sauce, Prawns, Quail Eggs and Salad. The noodles came with complimentary Ice Lemon Tea and Water Chestnut drink as well. It is equally tasty with the sesame topping but I prefer the Penguin Noodles as they have eggs and tuna in it. The Dolphin Noodles tasted a little too plain with just 2 prawns and some quail eggs :(

I fell in love with their food! The Salmon meat is very tender and succulent and it doesn't have the fishy taste at all! Absolutely yummy~

I realised that all the dishes no longer served with their complimentary Ice Lemon Tea / Water Chestnut Drink. Perhaps the rental @ Asia Square is too expensive and it is burning into their operating profit... *HAIX*

However, I am still glad that the quality of food is still maintained and their soba is as tasty as ever! Who cares about the complimentary drinks if your main purpose is to fill your tummy with healthy and tasty foodie? Anyway we are free to purchase our favourite drink from Gong Cha or Toast Box also located in Food Garden :3

*UPDATE (13 Feb 2014): Polar Bear Rice (SGD7.80)

Brown Rice. Sauteed Pork. Egg. Salad.

*UPDATE (13 Feb 2014): Polar Bear Rice (SGD7.80)
The brown rice tasted rather coarse (which is expected) but it is still edible with the meat gravy.

The Sunny Side-Up taste pretty normal - not the runny type that I prefer, sadly.

Overall taste is still OK as I polished the plate entirely as usual :)

After lunch, we went to explore the newly opened Westin Hotel at Asia Square Tower 2.

The view from their hotel lobby (located at the 34th Storey) was splendid.

Was so excited that I can see AXA Tower from the hotel lobby... Perhaps I can wave to my friend who is working in AXA Tower~ But I doubt she'll see me.. LOL

We managed to gain access to the Swimming Pool area after Prince William displayed his charm to the staff there ♥♥

We got really envious of the hotel guests who are able to enjoy the splendid view and sunbath whilst reading a novel by the poolside. Prince William said he had always wanted to visit the pool when he saw the view from outside our office's window during a meeting...

Having a chance to enjoy the facilities of The Westin Singapore is such luxury. Too bad we have to make our way back to our office to face the harshness of reality as lunchtime is up so soon. How I wish we can work during weekends and rest on weekdays!! Ahhhhh~
