HEALTHY DIY GRASS SALAD
Eating too much delicacies can pose to be a health threat to Rabbits...
In fact, we should detox our digestive system once in a while like doing some spring cleaning.
As you all know, Salads are a 'rare' commodity in the CBD area as Chinese prefers eating meat. Moreover, even if you see salads being sold, they cost a BOMB! Yes, they literally will bomb your wallet and burst your lunch budget.. Be prepared to spend at least S$6 and above for a bowl of satisfying salad.
Da Rabbit has tried the more budget salad from the bridge linked to Shenton House. It cost approximately slightly below S$5.00 if you stick to the standard veggies but it is not satisfying at all because the choices are pretty limited. Da Rabbit prefers eating the S$7++ salad from Food Garden @ Asia Square with fresher and hence greener
However eating ATAS Grass everyday might not seem to be the solution. Hence Da Rabbit, together with her
Da Rabbit is in charge of buying the Lettuce for salad whereas her other colleagues would be responsible for other ingredients i.e. eggs, ham, fruits, dressing etc. It would be a blast!
As mentioned in the previous post, Da Rabbit has sinned greatly by patronising Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks on her way to visit NTUC to get her Lettuce... :(
Oh well, everybody do have their shortcomings.. Including Rabbits...
To cut the long story short, Da Rabbit has bought a box of 3 lettuces which cost S$2.90 as there ain't much Iceberg lettuces left for selection. Moreover Butterhead Lettuces look more presentable and more appetising as they were hydroponically grown!
Le' ATAS Butterhead Lettuce
Da Rabbit's colleagues told her that actually Iceberg Lettuces are good enough.. Meh~~ And 1 Iceberg Lettuce can feed 2 pax whereas 1 Butterhead Lettuce is only enough to feed 1 pax.. Meh Meh Meh~~~
Fine, Da Rabbit not only has butter fingers, but her head is made of butter too :(

Snow Pear
Also known as Pyrus Nivalis but more commonly known as "Snow Pear" as its colour is very pale when compared to other species of pears. Cantonese likes to use it to make delicious soup as it gives a sweet aroma and taste to the soup.
Snow Pear is also a great thirst quenching fruit as it is very juicy and crunchy when you bite it ♥ Also, pears are a good source of dietary fibre and vitamins (Vitamin A, C and E1). They do NOT contain any fat and hence proves to be a healthy intake of natural sugars. There are claims that Snow Pear can reduce cholesterol and high blood pressure.
Cherry Tomatoes
Cute as they look, Cherry Tomatoes do contain Vitamins (Vitamins A and B6) too!
They contain antioxidant which reduces risk of diseases caused by cellular damage such as cancer. Other health benefits include prevention of skin damage caused by photo-ageing, brain disorders and osteoporosis.
Moreover, Da Rabbit feels that Cherry Tomatoes are more delicious than the big tomatoes as they are of bite-size stature which makes consumption easier. The sour taste will not be as overbearing as the normal big ones.
Da Rabbit's great-grandma was a fan of tomatoes and her complexion was as radiant as a tomato even during her old age. So, if you hate eating tomatoes, perhaps you should learn how to love them soon as you do not know what you are missing out!
Eggs
Eggs are a good source of protein. Eating a hard-boiled egg helps keep your stomach full for a longer period of time.
The health benefits of eating eggs include:
- Muscle Gain
- Prevent Alzheimer
- Contains Vitamin D which makes bones stronger
However, eggs do contain cholesterol and hence might not be suitable for those with heart ailments.
Dummies' Guide to Salad Making
#1: Wash the Lettuce by soaking it in water for a few minutes before rinsing it for a few times. Then using your hands, tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces before placing them into your lunch box / salad bowl as salad base. This is the staple salad base which fills your stomach
#2: Boil the eggs in water till they are hard-boiled. Da Rabbit's colleague shared with her that perfectly cooked eggs will not slip off your chopsticks when you try to lift them out from the pot with the chopsticks.
#3: Pare the Fruits (Apples and Pears) with a fruit parer to remove the skin. Nowadays, the skin of apples are coated with thick layers of wax in order to prevent pests from invading them.
#4: Cut your fruits into cubes
#5: Slice your picnic ham with a knife
#6: Pour all ingredients into a salad bowl / your lunch box
#7: Add some salad dressing to taste
#8: Mix Well
#9: Bon Appetit! *YEEEESSSSSS!!*
