♥ Sweetie Muffin and Da Rabbit have been invited to a food tasting event!!!

Below is a screenshot of the email invitation we received earlier:

YAY! Its a drive out day with Sweetie Fin ~

♥ So Egg-Cited!!!

Le' Grand Arrival @ the venue

We were greeted by friendly staff and served with some drinks before being invited to walk around the venue ~ The place was decorated like a romantic garden and it was fabulous!! ♥♥

Posing @ the lovely entrance :)
Le' Bistro where we had our Food Tasting

Do you get the 1942s Feel yet? For us, not quite.. Hmmm..
The Wide-Angled Lens stretched our faces sideways :(

Le' Couple Tasting Menu

(Proposed Package)

Alfresco@Changi

All samples packed on a plate for our tasting ~ But we think the portion was pretty adequate cuz we were were 50% full afterwards LOL

What We Like

Traditional Wild Mushroom Soup with Chopped Parsley

We ♥ this because the mushroom taste was soooo... RICH!

Alfresco@Changi

Mussels in White Wine Cream

Da Rabbit feels that the cream matches the Mussels perfectly ~ yummy

Baked Seabass with Scallop in Lemongrass Sauce

Da Rabbit HATES fish because of the fishy taste. However, the chef managed to remove the fishy smell from this dish and the Lemongrass Sauce enhanced the taste of the Seabass absolutely. Amazing!

Desserts

Warm Brownies

As the name suggested, the brownies were really moist and warm~ LOVE them! However, they would taste perfect if complemented with Vanilla Ice-Cream

Ambience

The enclosed Bistro area was pretty cozy and relaxing, however the decor was not as special and nostalgic as The Coastal Settlement's.

However, if you want to host your wedding banquet or ROM at the open air area, the wedding planner / coordinator can do miracles for you in the decor i.e. doing up the tents, having air-condition in the tent, designing and coming up with decor that would be suitable to whatever theme you want for your Dream Wedding etc. It all boils down to $$$ at the end of the day actually.. Heh Heh Heh!

Chef

We managed to have a quick chat with the chef afterwards. He was a former chef from a few hotels, including Shangri-La. We highlighted to him our concerns for wedding as our parents are all very traditional and Western Cuisine would not appeal much to them. He assured us that he could change the menu to suit our preference in any way although he specialises more on French Cuisine. That was a WOW factor as you get to customise your menu, from Chinese Cuisine to Western Cuisine or even do a fusion ~

Wedding Venue

Pros

  1. Memorable Wedding experience for your guests as its an outdoor wedding
  2. There is no limitation / restrictions as to how you want to decorate the venue as the company can rent you whatever props you want
  3. You get to customise the banquet menu
  4. Shuttle Bus services can be catered to your guests due to the inaccessibility of the venue
  5. Parking is not an issue as you can park along the road outside

Cons

  1. Your parents might not buy the idea as it is still a very Western Concept
  2. The costs involved can be much higher than you hosting a normal banquet at a hotel (We were told that some couples spent over S$100k on this sort of wedding ~)
  3. Your Ang Pows might not be able to cover the cost (There are no standard market rates for Ang Pows for such exotic venues)
  4. The banquet might be disrupted by the noise pollution from the aeroplanes on take-off as it is situated very near Changi Airport (in fact we heard a few planes flying past when the event coordinator was trying to explain their concept to us)
  5. There are mosquitoes (Tested and proven. We were badly bitten by the mosquitoes whilst sitting at one of the tables under the tents)

Overall

Alfresco@Changi is a great place to chill-out. We do not mind visiting the place for casual dining but using that place as a wedding venue was out for us as da pampered RABBIT prefers indoors with air-conditioners blasting at her :(

Moreover, Muffin and Rabbit do not like to have too much frills and overspending on the wedding ceremony itself as they prefer spending on their future 'nest' and on their honeymoon and enjoyment of marriage life afterwards

*UPDATE: February 2014

We have revisited this place again to do a comprehensive review of our overall dining experience there.
