18.05.2014: Jeff and YY's Big Day @ Crowne Plaza Hotel
My first impression of the food at Crowne Plaza Hotel ain't good at all when I attended a wedding lunch there sometime in March 2013. Hence I was pretty reluctant to attend Jeff and YY's wedding dinner reception when Sweetie Muffin requested me to go as it was his bestie's wedding and he was the "brother" of the groom. Hence I had no alternatives but dragged myself to attend the wedding dinner with him ;(

Le' Location and Ambience
|
I like the ceilings and the brightly lit hall :) |
|
The flowery décor during my last visit in March 2013 |
Located at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3, it is probably the best place to host your wedding and take off to your honeymoon destination immediately after! However, due to the fact that the Singapore Changi Airport is nowhere near town, there will be hidden costs involved for hosting your wedding there - one great example will be paying surcharge and transport fees for your make-up artist and photographer / videographer. Also, it is rather inconvenient for the guests to travel all the way there...
|
Busy Receptionists.. |
|
Our Souvenirs - Passport Holder or Crystal Pen.. Seems like Crystal Pens are the "IN" thing now... |
As for the function room's décor wise, the place was done up pretty decently. There were 2 screens in place on one side of the wall but for those who were seated under the projector or near to it like my table, it would be straining on our necks to admire the montage / video being displayed on the screen.. It can't be helped, I guess?

Seizing the moment.. To take a selfie :D |
Le' Menu
The Chinese Menu comprises of the 8 dishes for dinner..

Le' Food
Red Wine
Cheers to joyous occasions!
|
The last time when I tried their Red Wine... |
However, never try the red wine served at Crowned Plaza! I repeat, never ever try that!! I disliked the taste completely - it was not at the very least sweet and it was pungent indeed..
|
Sweetie Muffin turned red after being compelled to drink half a glass of beer.. Poor thing :X |
#1: Imperial Treasure combination Platter
(Crispy Spiced Beancurd / Marinated Baby Octopus / Roasted Pork / Soya Sauce Chicken / Yam Puff)
|
Imperial Treasure combination Platter |
This tasted good :) As far as I can remember, the platter served by Crowne Plaza always taste good...

Close-Up of my Plate.. |

My March 2013 Platter had Jellyfish and Vegetable Spring Rolls.. |
#2: Double Boiled Fish Maw Soup with Bamboo Pith and Shark's Cartilage Broth
|
Double Boiled Fish Maw Soup with Bamboo Pith and Shark's Cartilage Broth |
The broth tasted very rich and had a creamy texture. We quite enjoyed it just that the fish maw can be rather stinky if you eat too much.. I'm not a fish fan anyways...
|
My March 2013 Double Boiled Chicken Soup with Fresh Ginseng... I preferred the fish maw one.. |
#3: Sautéed Seafood with Trio Bell Pepper and Cashew Nuts
|
Sautéed Seafood with Trio Bell Pepper and Cashew Nuts |
Yummy ~ But it is not advisable to eat too much of it as it is just too starchy and jelak. I only 'attacked' my favourite Cashew Nuts though :p
#4: Steamed Soon Hock with Black BeanSauce
|
Steamed Soon Hock with Black BeanSauce |
I was delighted that the sauce and black bean sauce masked the yucky fish taste from the steamed fish. The fish tasted better than the ATAS one served by
Marina Mandarin Hotel in my humble opinion :D
|
Close-Up on my fish.. I requested for Sweetie Muffin to take drown it in more sauce to get rid of the fishy smell. |
#5: Braised Sea Cucumber with Broccoli and Mushroom
|
Braised Sea Cucumber with Broccoli and Mushroom |
I dislike starchy sauce and the mushy taste from the mushrooms. Hence I didn't quite enjoy this dish.
|
That is the portion I normally eat when it comes to Mushrooms and Broccoli dish.. EEks. |
#6: Roasted Crispy Duck
|
Roasted Crispy Duck |
Not exactly my like either...
#7: Stewed Mee Pok Noodle with XO Sauce
|
Stewed Mee Pok Noodle with XO Sauce |
This is a totally refreshing concept! Besides the lumpy and starchy tasting Ee Fu Noodles, Mee Pok was served! It tasted a lot more appetising if you drizzle some vinegar on it ~ It's so yummy that I polished my bowl of Mee Pok like for the first time in a wedding banquet!
|
Yummy Bowl of Mee Pok! |
Normally I would just eat a couple of strands from the bowl of Ee Fu noodles and pause there to wait for the staff to clear my bowl for me... Kudos to Mee Pok! That kind of saved my day ;)
#8: Sweetened Honeydew Sago
|
Sweetened Honeydew Sago |
A meal would end up well if the dessert served is fantastic. We were glad that the Honeydew Sago tasted refreshing and yet not too sweet~ Yummy!
Hence Sweetie Muffin was spared from a getting earful from me because I might just turn violent if overall the food tasted bad. LOL!
Le' Service
The Service was still rather acceptable but not as prompt as we expected. The service crew was overall helpful although our drinks orders did not arrive that promptly - which is somehow expected of Wedding Banquets anyway.
Overall
We enjoyed our dining experience there and was exceptionally entertained by the newly-wed's humorous speech as well as the videos played ;)
Special Thanks for Jeff and YY for hosting the wedding banquet the Mee Pok especially! That really made my night ~ ♥
