Al Fresco Dining @ Siloso Beach
Sick of dining at the usual places?
Perhaps you should venture further, say the Siloso Beach at Sentosa to chill with your friends over some beer / liquor and decent Western Food :)
Coastes was recommended by our friend - Tracy and Desmond as one of their favourite paktoh (means dating in Cantonese) places.
We were seated at the Al Fresco Area of the restaurant as the guys wanted to enjoy the sea view.
It was a totally different experience for both Sweetie Muffin and I as we were too used to dining indoors at Cafés / Restaurants within Shopping Malls. We could see families dining with kids building their sand castles by the beach and there were people swimming in the beach as well. We were tempted to take a dip in the sea as the weather was rather sunny and humid when we arrived at around 6pm.

Menu
The Menu could be found on their official website @ http://www.coastes.com/menu/
Basically, Coastes serve a wide range of Western Cuisine, Cocktails, Mocktails and Liquor.
Thirsty?
DESPERADOS (SGD14)
We tried a bottle of DESPERADOS beer each and I must say that I love the taste!
The beer tasted pretty smooth (not as gassy as some other brands) and had a light sweetness to it.
In fact I liked the beer so much that I finished half of Sweetie Muffin's portion :p
Food
Our friends highly recommend Coastes' Pizzas, Spaghetti Prawn Aglio Olio, BBQ Ribs and Spicy Wings.
Our Mains :) |
Club Sandwich (SGD22)
Shaved Honey Baked Ham and Cheddar Cheese Sandwiched between Sour Dough Bread and Pan Fried with Butter
Club Sandwich (SGD22) |
Sweetie Muffin and I shared this as our main course and it was really filling.
I still think that their burgers look better.
I love my sunny side up with the runny yolk. But the sandwich version was the dried and hardened yolk.
MEH :(
Spaghetti Prawn Aglio Olio (SGD28)
Tiger Prawns Sautéed with Garlic and White Wine finished with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Tomatoes and Basil
This is Tracy's favourite. The dish smelt very fragrant and tasted a little spicier than the usual Aglio Olio we tried priorly.
Big Bad Wolf Pizza (SGD24)
Bacon, Roast Chicken, Capsicum and Mushrooms
We all adored the thin-crusted pizza which tasted so light and crispy. I think lovers of Skinny Pizza will fall in love with Coastes' pizzas too!
Roast Chicken Sandwich (SGD16)
Roast Chicken with Honey Mustard Dressing Lettuce and Tomatoes in Ciabatta Bread
Roast Chicken Sandwich (SGD16) |
Spicy Wings (SGD18)
Marinated Chicken Wings Deep Fried and Coated with Spicy BBQ Sauce
The chicken wings looked burnt but the appearance is deceiving.
They were not burnt but glazed with BBQ Sauce which resulted in that dark colour.
Spicy Wings (SGD18) |
I can guarantee you the the chicken meat still tasted rather succulent and the outer skin tasted great with the sweet BBQ Sauce :) You can try dipping the wings in the chilli + lime sauce provided but we preferred to eat the wings without the sauce as they tasted more original that way.

Overall
It is nice to spend our weekends differently once in a while to make our lives more colourful.
Thanks, Tracy and Desmond for the recommendation and we enjoyed the food and fireworks display after the sunset. It was a fascinating sight to see fireworks in Singapore besides National Day!
Oh yes, one pick-up tip from Des is that you can bring girls to dine at Coastes and making them believe that you actually 'ordered' the fireworks from the management (in fact, there are daily shows at the musical fountain area in Sentosa which resulted in the fireworks at designated timings - hence it would be wise if you can check the timing out too in order to make your plan foolproof yup!).
Oh and just one more tip on dining in the open area. You have to be aware of the tall mango trees around you because one mango fruit simply landed on our table with a super loud THUD whilst we were dining and broke the wooden receptacle used to contain our Spicy Wings. We were all alarmed but that incident but were thankful that the mango did not land on any glass plates, if not we might have been disfigured by the shattered glass shards during the process ;(
The staff informed us that they did do regular pruning of the trees surrounding the open area but accidents are still inevitable as it might get too breezy at the beach to cause the mangoes to fall from the trees. So you have to beware if you are considering to sit at the open area, unless you intend to buy lottery / 4D *GRIN*
Until Next Time :) |
